Mental Health Counseling Tailored to Your Needs
Our Mental Health Counseling team at CTSA provides specialized counseling for those in our community struggling with anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and other stress-related conditions. Our Mental Health Counseling team of clinicians and prescribers have devoted their careers to healing trauma and anxiety. As a result, many have completed advanced training and certifications allowing specialization in treating trauma and anxiety in our community.
Mental Health Counseling at CTSA emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based care. Our team is trained in a range of cutting-edge therapies that have been found to be most effective in treating the variety of trauma and anxiety-related disorders. Each of our clients are carefully matched with the best Mental Health Therapist for them, based on their preferences and goals.
At the first appointment – called an Intake appointment – your Mental Health Counselor will learn all about you and what you’re hoping to heal or resolve in therapy. Together, you and your Mental Health Therapist will create a custom-tailored treatment plan designed specifically for you so we can stay focused on healing and making meaningful, lasting change.
Our Mental Health Therapists work with the entire lifespan and often specialize in different phases of development. Some of our therapists work specifically with young children (ages 3-10), adolescents (ages 11-17), transitional age adults (ages 18-25), adults (ages 26-65), and older adults (age 66+).
In addition to individual therapy, we offer marital or couples counseling, family therapy, and group therapy depending on your needs! If you aren’t sure, don’t worry! Your Mental Health Therapist will help you make the right decision for you during your intake appointment.
FAQs
What Is Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy is the most common treatment approach where it’s just you and your therapist working together on your treatment goals. You get insight into why you think the way you do, learn coping skills, and engage in one or more treatment approaches to help you heal.
What Is Family Therapy?
Family therapy is where we bring the parents/guardians and children into a session together. Sometimes we invite siblings in as well. Family therapy can be helpful if there is parent-child conflict, or if parenting styles differ between parents and it’s causing difficulty. It can also be helpful to reduce sibling conflict. We strive to improve communication and relationships among family members.
What Is Marital or Couples Counseling?
Marital or couples counseling is a type of counseling where a professional counselor helps individuals who are romantically involved work through a variety of challenges in their relationship. In couples therapy, you are both the client, and your counselor will help you work through challenges, understand your relationship better, and develop healthier ways of communicating with each other. Couples counseling is also helpful when someone in the relationship has been betrayed, either through infidelity, broken promises, or dishonesty.
Can I Be in Multiple Types of Therapy at the Same Time?
Yes! This happens often! Often we start with individual therapy and realize that healing can happen much more quickly or meaningful by adding in family therapy or couples therapy. Your therapist will assist you in examining how the other approaches might support your healing journey. Depending on availability, you can work with two different therapists at CTSA to support a more collaborative approach to care.
