Psychological Testing
CTSA offers Psychological Testing for children, adolescents, and adults. Psychological Testing can be beneficial for assessing the presence of numerous conditions, including:
- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Bipolar Disorder
- Dementia (including Alzheimer’s Disease)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Thought Disorders
- Educational Giftedness
- Twice Exceptional (2e) Students
- Educational Learning Problems/Disorders
- Developmental Delays in Children
Psychological Testing can be powerful in helping to answer some of the lingering questions you have for yourself or your child as it relates to important areas of functioning. Especially if you or your child are impacted at home, school, or work, and simply want to get to the bottom of it. This is exactly the point at which we can help!
The Psychological Testing assessments that we offer are designed to help measure strengths and weaknesses in important areas of functioning for each client. Depending on the individual concerns and questions to be answered by the evaluation, testing may include measures of:
- Cognitive ability
- Academic achievement and learning progress
- Attention and executive functioning
- Visual and auditory information processing
- Problem-solving strategies
- Motor and visual perceptual abilities
- Memory
- Behavioral and emotional functioning
The Psychological Testing assessment process generally involves an informational interview (aka a diagnostic or intake appointment). After the intake, if testing is necessary, we will schedule a second testing appointment where we will administer a battery of educational and/or psychological tests. In some cases, we may also request a period of behavioral observation to assist with diagnosis. Although it is sometimes possible to complete the Psychological Testing in one sitting, it is common for people to be asked to return for a second testing session to finish the assessment battery. The final appointment is a feedback session to discuss the results and of your psychological testing as well as recommendations and next steps. You’ll be provided with a complete or abbreviated report at the time of your feedback appointment.
The Psychological Testing assessment is a process, and can take anywhere from 8-12 weeks (or more) from intake to feedback session depending on a variety of factors. Because we are a training clinic, our general turnaround time for completed reports may range between 4-6 weeks after all testing has been completed and medical records/consults have been received.
