Christina Burbelo, LMSW
Licensed Social Worker
She/Her/Hers
Christina earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore in 2024, concentrating in clinical behavioral health and specializing in trauma. This was a career shift for Christina. Through both personal and professional experiences, she shifted into social work as a way to create more direct and meaningful change within the systems, communities, and people she crosses paths with.
Christina believes that each of us has a story to tell. She sees therapy as an opportunity to engage with that story. She sees her role as a collaborative partner and non-judgemental witness along this journey of self-exploration. She is committed to meeting clients where they are while giving them space to explore their stories more deeply when ready. With this, she draws on psychodynamic, relational, attachment, and somatic-based theories. Christina integrates parts work, such as Ego State Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic awareness to help clients move through a place of feeling stuck and into a place of insight, growth, and acceptance.
Christina also completed additional study and training in addressing and integrating one’s religion and spirituality in therapy, and is able to do so when it aligns with her clients’ process and goals. She also works with those who are exploring their own spiritual and or religious identities after experiencing abuse or trauma.
She loves spending as much time outdoors as possible – whether it’s a spontaneous road trip or a walk at the end of the day. She also loves dogs (and has a soft spot for black labs.) Animal videos make her laugh. Broadway music makes her feel joy. Playing in the snow makes her feel alive, and taking trips to the mountains makes her feel grounded. All of these things make life a little more magical.
